Thinning – The process of thinning ultimately allows for a much higher quality timber product and increased timber value. The reason that thinning is important is because - with the removal of trees - you are removing the competition for space and nutrients – giving viable trees healthy growing space and access to nutrients that will allow them to reach their potential. The process of thinning includes the removal of dead and/or dying trees.

Clear-cuts – Clear Cutting refers to the process of removing the entirety of disease infested stand – thus clearing the way for healthy trees to take root and thrive. Like thinning, clear cutting is a management technique that essentially removes the competition for sunlight, nutrients, and soil moisture allowing accessibility for healthy trees to reach their full potential. Clear cutting is also a process that is used in the removal of stand during the final rotation – harvest – in preparation for replanting.

Prescribed Burning – Prescribed Burning is a completely controlled operation that is utilized in forest management to minimize the potential of destructive natural fire. Additionally, prescribed burning reduces competitive growth, controls disease, improves wildlife habitat, and stimulates germination and renewal.

Clearing and Grinding – The harvest process is a multi-faceted one that involves synergy between a variety of operations. Following harvest, the area must be cleared in preparation for replanting and debris removed effectively.  At Woodlands Enterprises we implement a clearing plan that is in keeping with safe operating practices and will quickly and efficiently clear the harvest with complete respect for the land.  Our grinding process removes all brush and unwanted trees – turning them into mulch that will eliminate stumps as well as the need to haul away material. This immediately prepares the ground for replanting and allows for instant use.

Pond Construction – Adding to the development of the natural ecosystem, pond construction is another way to enhance the wildlife habitat.

Tree Replanting – Of course, the removal of trees during harvest clears the land for the next step – replanting. At Woodlands Enterprises we provide tree replanting services to help regenerate your asset and continue the environmental cycle. At Woodlands Enterprises we are as committed to our environmental practices as anything else and the concepts and practices of Sustainable Forestry initiatives.

Road Building – Obviously the services that we provide here at Woodlands Enterprises, up to, including, and after a successful harvest operation requires accessibility to the land itself – with the machinery that can effectively do the job. In order to make sure that we are able to reach the area safely and carry out our operations effectively we will build roads to the area to effectively transport our equipment and haul away product.

Wildlife Food Plot Installation – In keeping with environmental considerations, wildlife food plots can be created within natural forest clearings.  This is a controlled plan to optimize the conditions to produce natural food resources for wildlife.

Environmental Assessments (wetland delineation and soil testing)– Anything we do at Woodlands Enterprises is in keeping with proper environmental practices; and proper testing is paramount to doing this successfully. We perform environmental assessments including wetlands delineation which allows us to determine if the land on which we may work is considered to be wetlands. The wetlands are low lying agriculture with the presence of water that supports natural vegetation and supports a variety of ecosystems. As a part of government enacted conversation programs, the wetlands are protected natural resources and boundaries must therefore be firmly established before any work can be done.  At Woodlands Enterprises we also provide soil testing services that allow us to determine the consistency and nutritional makeup of the soil so that we can react accordingly.
